Sometimes I need a 'me'.
We're intelligent, capable, know how to get things done and make decisions.
But somehow we can get in our own way.
Sometimes clients want the planning, behaviour change and accountability aspect from their therapeutic sessions. Sometimes it's not so much a problem we need help solving, but a workout buddy for life and career growth.
Yes, in counselling, we have a goal or idea of where a client wants to be, or what needs to be resolved; in coaching goals are more significant. We both keep our eyes on your goal. You tell me what you want (that can take 1-3 sessions). You come to sessions prepared for a topic of conversation, or 'work'. I'll manage where our conversation takes us in each session (we may get into old stuff that is getting in your way today). And you will likely have 'homework' (action steps toward your goal). I may have homework too, such as researching information for you. I will always wear my counselling hat. Coaching can be faster paced than counselling depending what the day brings.
Personally, I have a counselling supervisor and a business coach. These two ladies understand me enough to be my second (and third) brain. They can ask me questions like I ask my clients (it's not all that easy to counsel oneself). They help me speak my thoughts about the work I do and about running a small business. I want to do good work (be truly helpful to my clients), be ethical and develop professionally. I also want to make wise business decisions Another's perspective on these matters shows its value every time.
Coaching sessions can be 1 - 2hrs. We'll arrange what suits you and me. They don't have to be the same every time. We can meet weekly, fortnightly or monthly; whatever suits your goals, actions and time availability. My chargeout rate is $80/hr. I use the same agreement for coaching services as I do with my counselling clients because matters of confidentiality, attendance, payments, complaints procedure, etc are equally relevant.
So if you've had enough of being stuck, reading self help books or articles, and want to do something to move you forward, phone me on 027 764 6967 (preferably during business hours) and arrange that first appointment.
